Becoming a Herbivore: The Nutritional Benefits of Vegetarianism
Abstract
The vegetarian diet is a popular lifestyle change that many people are participating in. This diet has flexibility, for example a pescatarian only eats fish but no other meats, lacto-vegetarians eat lactose products but no meat or eggs, and lacto-ovo vegetarians eat eggs and lactose products but no meat. Not only is this diet cheaper for individuals but it is sustainable for all ages and situations, like pregnancy. This diet also prevents factory farming, a system that raises livestock, by which cattle are confined indoors under strictly controlled conditions. It also prevents the needless suffering of animals within factory farming.

As a vegetarian, I thought writing a thesis on vegetarianism would be helpful for those who want to switch over to this diet, and it would show them how this diet is both sustainable and helpful for yourself, and the world around us. I have always loved learning about the human body, this is why I am majoring in nursing at Radford University and minoring in American sign Language, so I can work with individuals who are deaf, as a nurse. I also enjoy learning about botany and herbal medicines, which comes in handy with my hobby, gardening.
